Our Story

The idea for Deskcycle® was born in 2012 when our founder, John Smith, was working a desk job and realized he was sitting for 8+ hours per day. He knew all that sitting couldn’t be good for his health so he created a makeshift under-desk bike using a salad spinner and wasting bearing. It allowed him to pedal lightly under his desk, increasing his daily movement without interrupting his work.

When John shared his creation with colleagues, the response was overwhelmingly positive. People loved having a way to move their bodies during the workday without having to leave their desks. John realized the potential to help millions of desk workers be more active and launched Deskcycle® to make quality under-desk bikes accessible to all.
